I’m really disappointed with this book. From the title I was under the impression that there would be family “friendly” food. But my kids aren’t really into lamb, whitefish, Japanese burritos, or guacamole with eggs.
I might have kept the book despite those recipes if there had been a single bread, or dessert, recipe; but there wasn’t.
This cookbook is going in the donation pile. Don’t waste your money.

This book is good if you’re like Jennifer Anniston (who wrote the forward)…totally clueless in the kitchen and know nothing about healthy eating. A waste of money for all but the novice. An homage to the oh so creative sisters and their lifestyle.

This book really shows the magic of food and family. These sisters have not only shown you the recipe, but they have given you each others take on the same dish. The actual layout of the book is extremely easy to follow
and the photography makes you want to quickly make the same meal for your own family. The Family Chef gives you a loving look into the sisters own generation of family chefs, and will make you want to read it over and over again.

We were in Santa Monica earlier this year. We were invited to a private party that was being catered by the Elmore sisters. The food was fantastic! It was the center of much of the conversation during the party and was made even better by Jill and Jewels willingness to be coaxed out of the kitchen to share their recipes and stories. The next day we ordered The Family Chef.
Mother’s day weekend was the perfect setting for the book’s debut in our home. Our girls and I spent the weekend preparing various recipes from the book. The dressings and sauces turned salads and meats into restaurant worthy dishes. Jill’s lamb kebab recipe was as authentic as my Armenian grandmother’s. Jewel’s blends of spices brought out wonderful aromas to go along with great taste. The recipes are not complicated and allowed us to work together in the kitchen, having alot of fun along the way.
Last nite, my wife (wanting to get in on the action) made the Baramundi. It was superb. The Elmore sisters may not be a household name, but their book has made it front and center in our kitchen.

Jewels and Jill have created recipes and a book that is a delight not only for your taste but also for your eyes. The stories, pictures and ideas make the book a page turner. But the most important, the recipes are delicious! Tonight my family and I made the chile rellenos and the tostadas for mothers day and every plate was clean shortly after if was on the table. This is a cookbook unlike no other. I don’t know what I did before it. Thank you so much for the direction, but even more, the inspiration. Beautiful book!
